Sean Selig McMahon is a composer-performer. His repetoire spans from renaissance countertenor literature to jazz standards and rock and roll. Throughout his young career, Sean has performed both solo as a folk musician as well as in rock trios and classical ensembles throughout the East Coast and Europe.

Most recently, Sean released a record of original folk music for guitar and voice, titled VIIb. To check out some tracks, check  SIC www.seansmcmahon.com/music.htm

Sean's distinct sound is a synthesis of the many musics that have influenced him over time, such as the songs of Lennon-McCartney, Simon & Garfunkel, and Cat Stevens; the work of jazz greats McCoy Tyner, Thelonious Monk, and John Coltrane; the compositions of Bela Bartok, Guillame Dufay, and especially the choral music of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.

In the past, Sean has led and performed with different groups, including Counterpoint, rock trio, which played the New England area throughout 2002-2004.

Presently, Sean lives in Boston, where he attends the New England Conservatory of Music, studying voice with Dominique Eade and composition with Anthony Coleman (John Zorn, Sephardic Tinge, Self-Haters Orchestra).
